In his book, Healing ADD Dr. Daniel Amen who used the SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography, a nuclear medicine study that evaluates brain flow and activity patterns) explains:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn my experience with neurofeedback and ADD, many people are able to improve their reading skills and decrease their need for medication. Also, neurofeedback has helped to decrease impulsivity and aggressiveness. It is a powerful tool, because we are giving them more control over their own physiological processes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Research conducted by Joanne L\u00e9vesques, a neuropsychologist from Montreal using the MRI (magnetic resonance imagery) also confirms these findings. Dr. Joel Lubar, from the University of Tennesse, has found that the IQ scores rose from twelve to twenty points in children and adults after forty hours of neurofeedback training. The research of Dr. Linda Thompson, from Toronto has produced the same conclusions. The abundant body of reasearch on the benefit of neurofeedback training for attention deficit points to a success rate of approximately 75%, which is 3 out of every 4 clients.<\/p>\n<p>Neurotherapists know very well that intervention for brain inefficiencies has to be multifaceted, including analysing what they eat, what entertainment they watch, sleep quality and quantity, self-esteem, etc. Contrary to medication, neurofeedback training is a learning tool which brings changes over time.
