NeuroMovement® builds upon the reality of neuroplasticity, taking advantage of the fact that the brain can change for the better at any age in response to the correct stimuli. Through gentle movements and manipulations, the Anat Baniel Method® wakes up the brain to move beyond limitations and overcome pain. Using the feedback from the central nervous system, the practitioner gives the brain specific sensory and motor information, guiding it towards more efficient patterns. This method purposefully avoids areas that drive pain or that create a stress response. Instead, it teaches the brain to remap itself, to change its very structure, and to form new abilities. Often, traditional approaches focus on the body’s deficiencies, forcing it to function in predetermined ways through painful, repetitious exercises.

Teaching the Brain a Better Way: Differentiation

Everything we see a healthy child or an adult do is the result of the process of differentiation in the brain. Each person’s specific experiences shape the way in which their brain processes information so when a problem such as a stroke, brain injury, autism, cerebral palsy, or a genetic disorder disrupts the process, the individual manifests a host of limitations. Often, there is a great emphasis on trying to get a person to do what they are supposed to be doing based on their specific age, but ABM NeuroMovement® takes a very different approach. Instead of trying to directly fix the problem by focusing on what a person cannot do, the focus shifts to where the solutions actually lie.
